The groundbreaking ceremony for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Elder Joaquin E. Costa of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside. The temple will be constructed on an 8.14-acre parcel located northeast of the city in the Aldea Romana neighborhood at the intersection of Avenida Alberto Pedro Cabrera and Luis Vera. The 19,000-square-foot temple will be accompanied by a 25,000-square-foot ancillary building with patron housing and a distribution center.

The single-story Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple will be approximately 19,000 square feet. A 25,000-square-foot ancillary building will share the site, offering patron housing and a distribution center.

Temple Announcement
On April 5, 2020, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple at the closing session of the 190th Annual General Conference. Bahía Blanca is a major port city of Argentina, located on the Napostá Grande River just upstream from the Atlantic Ocean bay for which it is named. The temple will be the fifth to be constructed in the nation of Argentina and will help reach Church members living in the southern half of the country. There are more than 450,000 Argentinian members organized into over 100 stakes and districts.2
Temple Facts
The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple will be the fifth temple built in Argentina, following the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple (1986), the Córdoba Argentina Temple (2015), the Salta Argentina Temple (under construction), and the Mendoza Argentina Temple (under construction).
