Temple Announcement
On October 1, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Colorado Springs Colorado Temple at the October 2023 General Conference. It will be the fourth temple in Colorado. Colorado Springs has the second-largest population in the state. Colorado temples in operation at the time of the announcement included the Denver Colorado Temple and the Fort Collins Colorado Temple. The Grand Junction Colorado Temple was under construction. Colorado, located in the Intermountain West of the United States, was home to nearly 150,000 Latter-day Saints in 310 congregations. The first congregation of the Church in Colorado was organized in January 1897, one year after a mission was established in the area.2
